Disaster Repairs

On August 13, 2001, the Company was thrust headlong into the midst of administering major hurricane cleanup and repairs by the arrival in Southwest Florida of Hurricane Charley.
Among the many projects that began as a result of Charley, we became involved in two very significant virtual rebuilding projects, one on Captiva Island that would encompass a group of eight different time-share complexes requiring almost a year and a half to rebuild, and another in Port Charlotte involving a condominium complex of a total of seven buildings plus other amenities that would be under reconstruction for over a year.

As a result of becoming involved with these two very substantial projects, we had to quickly assemble two teams of subcontractors and mobilize the services of equipment vendors and material suppliers to support all of the services required to move forward with demolition and then the rebuilding efforts.

At the height of the efforts, the teams totaled about 250 men plus project management personnel and office support staff.

Because of experiences and knowledge gained during these massive projects, the Company can now comfortably state that we are prepared to offer assistance to any building or group of buildings affected by such a natural disaster in the future.
